My Archer is older with NO WDS, etc. Have C3200 with wired connection to provider's router/modem.

 

When it is wired to laptop, I can login to it. Shows IP as 192.168.1.254  Setup all wireless.

 

Reconnected to main router, was able to connect to the C3200 via wifi, but shows no internet yet.

 

Still unable to login to the C3200 wireless menu when on its wifi AND using that IP

 

Anyone?

That's weird. Are you using the LAN1 port of your HG6245D to connect to the C3200 ? If not that could be the reason for this behavior.

I found the user guide for HG6245D router - https://pldthome<dot>com/docs/default-source/updated-user-guide/customer-user-guide.pdf

According to this guide you should connect only LAN1 to another router. LAN2&3 are used for VAS or IPTV and LAN4 for IPTV only.

Try connecting the C3200 WAN port to HG6245D LAN1 (C3200 WAN port with Dynamic IP) and check if that will resolve the issue.

That's a good news. So, now you can configure C3200 as you want and it should behave as expected.

You can even configure the C3200 as you wanted initially:

WAN IP address:192.168.1.254 (Static IP)

Mask:255.255.255.0

Default Gateway:192.168.1.1

Primary DNS:192.168.1.1

Secondary DNS:1.1.1.1

 

That's just if you insist to have a Static IP address on the C3200 WAN port. If you're OK with the current settings just leave it as it is.

Now for the cameras - yes, you should reconfigure their wireless settings to move them over to the C3200 and offload HG6245D.

If you happen to have any issues with remote accessing your cameras (caused by the double NAT - C3200 is working as a second router), just follow the guide in my first post and you'll avoid that too - there would be no need of any port-forwarding if C3200 is in Access Point mode.

If you want to use C3200 in AP mode, here's the guide for configuring.

If there's a dedicated 'operation mode - access point' in C3200, use Case 1, otherwise use Case 2 - pay attention to the cabling (different in both cases).

In both cases C3200 LAN IP address should be in your main router's LAN subnet and its DHCP server OFF.

Thus you'll avoid a double NAT in your network, which will improve communication between devices connected to the main router and C3200.

It's a good practice to have a static LAN IP address on C3200, thus you'll always know its management IP address.

Yes, I see the problem here:

 

 

Put 1.1.1.1 for primary DNS and 8.8.4.4 for Secondary DNS.

Then you should be able to have internet access - that's assuming your main router has its LAN IP address in subnet 192.168.1.0/24 and it's 192.168.1.1

You should mind that with this configuration you probably have introduced a double NAT in your network - two routers in daisychain.

If you want to avoid that, read my first post carefully and follow the guide step by step according to your case - Case 1 or Case 2.

OK. Can you tell what's your main router make and model ?

How you have connected the two routers, which ports you use on both of them ?

Set Internet Connection Type: 'Dynamic IP' on C3200 WAN port and check if you have Internet connection.

Main Router/Modem isn FIBERHOME HG6245D ...... 2nd router hardwired in a LAN port on this device.

 

Switched to Dynamic IP on the C3200 ..... tried connecting in a LAN port .... and tried the WAN port. Still no internet.

 

Haven't used the C3200 for a while ..... I'm thinking it has some hardware fault preventing it from making internet connections.

Sorry about that. Here it is in Dynamic mode. It did set the gateway automatically, but it is not the LAN IP of the main router. Perhaps that is the gateway used by the main router? The IP and the Subnet are also both changed.
