Just Bought a new deco x90 but it is only giving me like 130-140mbs, I thought it was supposed to be a lot faster. If it is supposed to be faster what am I doing wrong?

  @A111

We would need some more info before we can help you with this query.

How are you testing this speed and what device are you using?

It could be a number of things causing this, the device for example may only support 2.4ghz and that would massively limit the speed.  If you are testing this via Speedtest.net or similiar it may be limited by your WAN speed.   Any additional info you can provide would help!

Hey

So the Deco app is a test of the internet speed and not the Deco par say.   Your phone may well be connected to the Deco at 866mbps (or faster) but as the internet speed is only 150ish then that is what the test will report.

How fast are you expecting your internet to be?   What is you internet contract specify?   If you internet is faster than 150ish then it could be the WiFi issue, but we would need to rule that out first.

Have you tried a Laptop plugged into the Deco?   if you go to fast_dot_com what speed does it report?    (sorry about the _dot_com, filters!!)

So two devices both wireless are giving the same speed (roughly) on internet tests.   Can I ask who your ISP is?  Do you know what type of connection you have?

Just to clarify the speeds that Deco offers are for WiFi, this is basically the connection between your Phone/Laptop and the Deco.   In your case, this could be well over 1000mbps.   However you will only get that in reality when copying files from PC to PC, or something that doesnt require an internet connection.

In 99% of cases the internet is the slowest bit and will determine what you are seeing in speeds. The model of Deco you have bought is pretty beefy and handle upto 1GB Fibre speeds with ease.

Without knowing what speed your internet is, we cant really make a judgement on this.. however it does seem to be working as intended.   If you can find a recent bill from your ISP that gives you internet speed do update and we can help you more smiley

I would check with your ISP first to see what you are getting, if they say ~150 then that is likely your issue and a faster package would get you better speeds.

From what you are describing its not anything your side or the Deco, but rather the internet speed being provided to you
