Hi I'm using 9 x S4 Decos' in my offices configured as WAPs , they work very well except for the Guest Network which will not allow internet access.  I use a (physical) Microsoft File Server in the office and this also DNS and DHCP service for the LAN.  I think the Deco Guest network is blocking DNS as the Sever is both a DNS server and a Fileserver. Is there anyway around this issue? I really need to use the Guest facility for visitors so I need the wireless isolation feature.

I use a TP Link VR200 router and a managed TP Link 48 port switch - no VLANs currently configured.

I found a similar post here:

Thanks

  @Westie

Hi, welcome to the community.

"using 9 x S4 Decos' in my offices configured as WAPs ", Do you mean setting up Deco S4 in AP mode, right?

If yes, since the wireless isolation is enabled, the customized DNS server will be blocked as an host device.

Since you mentioned the main router is Archer VR200, is it this one:https://www.tp-link.com/uk/home-networking/dsl-modem-router/archer-vr200/

Do you set it up in bridge mode since you have your own DHCP server as well?

If yes, I think maybe you could try to keep it on the wireless router mode, then configure DHCP reply(under Advanced>Network>LAN settings>DHCP server) on VR200, then configure the Microsoft File Server as the remote server.

Wait for your reply.

Best regards.

  @David-TP

Hi David, thanks for the prompt reply :)

Yes , all the Decos are in AP mode, all connected via 1GB ethernet.

Yes that is the VR200 I'm using.  I have it in Wireless Router mode , I have a starlink  (in bypass mode)  attched to Wan/Lan port 4 all works well.

I will try your suggestion when I'm back in work on Friday.  If I follow your thinking  LAN clients DHCP requests on the lan will then be fullfilled by the VR200 (10.114.1.1) via relay  which is the DG for the LAN, so the Wireless isolation will not block it?  But I still don't  see how it will help as the Primary DNS server address issued via DHCP will still be our 'in house' DNS server (and Fileserver  - 10.114.2.1) so wouldn't the DNS requests from clients on the Guest Network still be blocked  by the Decos wireless isolation?

THANKS
