Model: Deco M4
Hardware Version: V3
Firmware Version: 1.5.0 Build 20210414 Rel. 58075

Dear TP-Link,

Just upgraded to Gigabit network, with all Cat6 cables, but finding my Deco M4's in AP mode only pass through max 600mbps. My PC does 950mbps wired directly to the router, but only 580-590mbps when Deco M4 is in between (Router-->Deco-->PC). Access Point mode.

I have read many posts on this here and other locations with the same findings, spread over a few years, so the question is simple. Is there any recent fix, tip/trick or update to be done, or is this still just something I have to live with?

Please don't ask me to test things or relay more details; the test is simple and results very clear. If there is no fix, that is what it is.

Thank you!

In theory it should not, you are correct.. but just cause a port says its 1000, doesnt mean the device its attached to can handle that speed.    As the M4 is a tad older and 1gb was a pipe dream when it was released, it was never specced for that volume of traffic and therefore falls short.

Now the X range, its common place to have 1gb or more and therefore they are specced appropriately.

Hey

The Deco M4 is an older WiFi5 (AC) grade device and wont be capable of 1gbps speeds, for that you would need the faster Deco X range which are WiFi6 devices.

If you are getting 600mbps, thats pretty much the max the M4 will do, I have seen speeds slower than that.   Sadly hitting that 1gbps means faster hardware graded for WiFi6

Thank you. That is a clear answer. It's is indeed an older device. Although I don't understand why the WiFi standard would have anything to do with the physical network ports that should be 1gbps. I am talking about wired speed. But indeed, I would probably simply need to upgrade anyway.

Thank you for taking the time to reply twice. I agree. I am contemplating on new mesh wifi points at the moment. Though, 600mbit is not too bad either.
