What I expected when I purchased Deco(M4 & E4) was :

Every Deco would connect to multiple available Decos so that it would NOT cut the bandwidth in half everytime the signal jumps to another deco.

What I see now it that they are just multiple repeaters, not capable of connecting to multiple decos, just 1:1

Mesh vs Repeaters

Just look at the connection lines, looks like a web of connections, hence the term "MESH"

I think this is possible using ethernet cable, but it defeats the purpose of buying this device. I hope the devs would consider applying this true concept of "MESH" in wifi networks.

@Raddd Yes, Deco "Mesh" routers do not use a typical "mesh" network.

But keep in mind that:

  1. Internet speed always get halved coming from the main deco to a satellite deco. The workaround is to use Ethernet Backhaul.
  2. If the hardware version of your Deco M4 is V4, then take a look at this:

Deco M4(V4) 1.1.0

For other Deco models & hardware versions, those features will be rolled out in the next firmware.

Just a M4 (2-pack) user who regrets buying it
