WiFi Performance: DECO50 versus RE700X
Hi,
Thought to buy a 3 pack DECO50 to replace my Routeur/Modem provided by my ISP but long story short the DECO50 won't from my ISP and I need to keep my WiFi Routeur/Modem from my ISP (VLAN tagging required, and custom attributes to be sent to ISP DHCP service).
Well I could do a double NAT setup and connect the WAN port of the DECO 50 in a LAN port of my existing WiFi Routeur, use then only the LAN of the DECO 50 and put it's WAN IP in the DMZ of my existing Roueteur but it looks it's not a best practice and overall a bit cumbersome.
So in short, I'm looking now at the RE700X, as I need only to upgrade my WiFi, and don't need a routeur. I would configure it as Access Point and connect it to a LAN port of my routeur. I can use then other repeters compatible wiht OneMesh feature of TP-LINK.
Questions:
Are DECO50 and RE700X have the same WiFi performances? On paper they are the same WiFi 6 and: 574 Mbps at 2.4 GHz, 2402 Mbps at 5 GHz.
The DECO are not listed in list of OneMesh compatible devices. Is the service mesh better within the DECO range than it is withing the RE range?
Does the RE range supports RE backhaul through its Ethernet port? The Deco range does.
Thanks in advance for your feedback / advice.
Regards
Hervé
