Model: Archer AXE75
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version: 1.1.6

Hi,

The orange internet light on the AXE75 turns red from time to time (once every 2 minutes or so) when I make the following connection:

Modem à TL-SG116E à AXE75

When I connect the AXE75 directly to the modem (bypassing the unmanaged switch) there is no problem:

Modem àAXE75 (à TL-SG116E)

Is this a compatibility issues between these 2 TP-link products our is my unmanaged switch just too old and should I replace it?

thank you, Geert

If you switch the AXE75 from Router Mode to Access Point Mode, then it will behave exactly like you desire.

This can be done via the menu "Advanced" -> "System" -> "Operation Mode".

Hi,

What is the "Internet Connection Type" setting of the AXE75? (e.g. Dynamic IP, PPPoE, etc.)

Are there any additional devices connected to the TL-SG116E when it is plugged between the Modem and the AXE75?

  @woozle

Dynamic IP and yes there were 3 others (digibox for TV, Philips hue bridge and an RF accespoint) but I just did the test without these 3 connected and the problem remains.

And a sub question: the situation "Modem > AXE75 > TL- SG116E" forks for wifi, but I can not connect anymore to the Philips hue bridge who is connected to the TL-SG116E. It seems the the AXE75 is not only creating a own network for wifi, but also for the devices connected to its LAN port. Is there a possibilyt to have the AXE75 working as an unmanaged switch", At least for its LAN ports so that those device"'s can remain in my home wired network? (and also for the wifi, it would be interesting to have this options, so that all devices that ara connected to the AXE75 get an IP address from my modem and not from the AXE75.

@woozle just tested it, this was exactly what I needed, thank you ery much.

PS1: it probably does not solve the original problem, but that problem became irrelevant with your solution.

PS2: and as an added bonus: since now all my device are in the same IP range, I can also connect to my hue sync box and hue lights when on the TP network.

Good. Thanks for reporting back.

In case you still want to put the TL-SG116E switch to use, then you could do the following and see whether it improves anything.

- Perform a "System Reset" on the switch to reset it fo factory default settings.

- Check the firmware version of the switch. If it is a lower version than the latest one available for download at the TP-Link product website, then update it.
