Hi,
I used to have a router provided by my ISP which lacked functionality but always gave me steady 1000Mbps download speed, I have replaced it with M5 which I use as a router, since then I'm only getting about 700Mbps.

Some pointers:

 

  • No QOS is enabled (but bandwidth is set to 1024Mbps).

  • UPNP is disabled.

  • Short CAT6 ethernet cable connected directly to my PC.

  • The Deco gets its internet from fiber to ethernet converter.

  • Same config with previous router resulted in better speeds.

 

I love the Deco app and the mesh functionality, I wouldn't want to trade the Deco for a different router but so far I'm getting less than I paid for.

Can anyone assist?

Hi, 

Here are some suggestions for your reference:

1. Change a different speedtest server when testing the speed.

2. Clone the MAC address of the old router on Deco.---How to Configure MAC Clone on Deco

3. Have you used the built-in "Test internet speed" on the Deco APP to check the current internet bandwidth?

 

And May I know your internet service provider? Did it require a specific MTU size? I used to see feedback that the inappropriate MTU side might hinder the network speed.
