Archer MR 600 Auto Reset config
Archer MR 600 Auto Reset config
MR 600 4g router resets /clears its config at boot and then comes up with factory default settings.
This router is used for Surveillance in the mountains, but with this "feature" it is useless.
How on earth is this possible?
I see on the forums that other people also experienced similar problems, with no solition.

Hi, thank you very much for posting on TP-Link Community.
1. Please download the latest firmware from the official website and update it manually via web interface:
Firmware Download for Archer MR600 V1
2. May I know if the issue happens with a simple reboot every time? Or just randomly?
Is there any difference if you reboot it by hardware (press on/off button or unplug power adapter) or by software (reboot it through web interface)?
3. When did you purchase this MR600? This issue started since the purchase or just recently?

Thank you for your reply.
1: Firmware version 1.3.0 will be installed today. (When checking for new verision via MR600 web interface it claims that FW version 1.2.0 is up to date).
2: This is the first time it has happened. It happened after accidentally unplugging the power adapter and then leaving the MR600 unplugged and powerless for about 12-24 hours. When plugging it back in to power socket the MR600 started up with factory defaults. The MR600 have been on an nightly reboot schedule (software initiated from web interface, at 03:00) for several years without problems.
3: MR600 was purchased 3 years ago, august 13th 2020. The MR600 has seemed very stable up until now.

Thank you very much for the reply, you may monitor if there is any further issue after updating the firmware manually.
Since it has no such issue with reboot schedule every night, I assume the software reboot will not cause such issue.

@Sunshine
MR600 was updated to latest firmware.
Tested reboot via web gui and power disconnection several times, also left MR600 unplugged for 24hours, all of these tests ran fine and MR600 kept its config.
Today the MR600 reset itself to Factory defaults again. And the MR is back up in the mountains where I can not get to it at the moment.
This product now seems to be one of the worst and unstable piece of equipment I have bought during my 35+ years in the IT industry.

Hi, sorry to hear that the issue appeared again, if the device is still under warranty, it is recommended to contact the retailer to get it replaced.

@Sunshine
Yes, TP-Link product proves itself useless at this time, really annoying. The warranty expired August 13th 2023, 10 days ago....just to add to the experience.
Will I recommend TP-Link 4G-routers in the furture, the answer is a loud "no".
Anyways; thank you for your responses and effort to find solutions.

Hi, sorry to hear that the warranty just expired, and if convenient, you could also try this firmware to see if it helps:

When it rains, it pours. :D
I'm not going to try to get the MR600 covered by warranty even if it's just a few days over the expiration.
Thank you for the link to the firmware, I will upgrade the MR600 and test it.
However, I have ordered a Huawei B818-620 together with an AX3 for mesh-functions to see if this is more stable , it is important that we know the surveillance is reliable and reachable.
I will report back with results from the firmware in your link.
All the best,
Eric
