Model: Archer AX10
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.3.9 Build 20230728 Rel. 45716(5553)

Hello,

I have two routers in my setup Archer C7 and Archer AX10. Both are connected to the same switch and are operating in access point mode. Both have the same SSIDs setup.

I have WPA/WPA-2 Enterprise security in my setup and the Radius server is a Windows Server machine.

Everything seems to be working fine, however, I am seeing dual networks on every device.

One is an open network with the same SSID while the other one is protected.

The setup for both the routers is exactly the same.

Below is the setup for AX10:

Below is the setup for Archer C7:

Another thing worth noting is that the setup was working fine when both the routers were working in router mode. However, I decided to switch to Access point mode as no features of the router mode were being used.

Can anyone confirm what is the issue here?

Thanks.

Hi,

It might be helpful if you tell us on which one of the two routers WPA-Enterprise doesn't work in Access Point Mode. The C7 or the AX10? (i.e. which one broadcasts the unsecured wireless networks)

Hello @woozle ,

Thanks for your reply.

It seems that AX10 is the issue as when I turn off the router, the open networks go away.

Let me just do a factory reset and then I will confirm again.

Thanks.

I have done the factory reset and set the security to Enterprise again, however, the issue is still the same. Interestingly, having now switched back to Router mode and using Enterprise, the networks still show open. So, the current scenario is that AX10 is in Router mode and C7 in Access Point mode.

I have now tried shifting the C7 to Router mode as well, however, the issue persists. Now both the routers are back to Router mode and I am still seeing the open networks. No idea where the issue is as this setup was working fine until I decided to switch to AP mode.

Maybe, it is due to the firmware upgrade which I had 1 or 2 days before the switch to AP mode.

AX10 V1.2 Firmware

I was using 1.3.4 and went straight to 1.3.9

EDIT: So, I have tried firmware 1.3.8 and it had the same issue. I have gone back to 1.3.4 and the issue seems to be resolved by this firmware.

Thanks.

  @adeelshuaib

It's good to hear you were able to find a solution.

And thank you for reporting back all your findings. TP-Link should take a look at this issue.
