Model: Archer C64
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.13.2 Build 230824 Rel.74702n(4555)

Hi, I have recently acquired an Archer C64 router to use as an additional satellite router for my existing EasyMesh setup. So far, it was able to join my existing network, however, I noticed that while running a wireless scan on one of my devices, the WPS feature is enabled on the C64, despite being disabled on the main router (Archer AX23).

The security is set to WPA3-Personal+WPA2-PSK[AES] on the AX23, which automatically disables the WPS feature on the AX23. The WPS feature cannot be enabled on the AX23 unless I switch the security to a non-WPA3 mode.

Furthermore, switching the security to WPA3 only (no WPA2) on the AX23 successfully disables WPS on the C64, however, some older devices on the network are unable to connect in this case due to lack of support for WPA3.

Here are the full details of all devices involved in my EasyMesh Setup:

  • Main Router: TP-Link Archer AX23 V1.20 (Firmware Version: 1.1.0 Build 20230725 Rel. 55602(5553))
  • Satellite Router: TP-Link Archer C64 V1 (Firmware Version: 1.13.2 Build 230824 Rel.74702n(4555))
  • Extender: TP-Link RE330 V1 (Firmware Version: 1.0.23 Build 230418 Rel.60395n)
  • Extender: TP-Link RE215 V1 (Firmware Version: 1.0.23 Build 230418 Rel.60395n)

All devices are running the latest available firmware versions.

Since satellite routers cannot be configured directly (via their web interface or the Tether app) and always follow the settings of the main router, is there a workaround to disable the WPS feature on the Archer C64 while it is also disabled on the main router, or if there isn't, can this be rectified in a new firmware update for the Archer C64?

Thanks.

Hi, thank you very much for posting on TP-Link Community.

Currently it is indeed not possible to configure the satellite router to disable the WPS, we will record it as a feature request and report it to related department for evaluation.
