Hi, I'm setting up a px50 system and I couldn't identify on the manual how to setup the mesh through Wi-Fi (which seems to be a requirement to setup the Ethernet Backhaul, ).

indications on how to proceed?

Hey

No it doesnt need any ethernet backhaul, it can use the Powerline or WiFi.

Once you have the first Main Deco setup, you can add another node.  Place it in range of the first deco and follow the wizard, this will add it to the mesh automatically.     The PX50 supports both PLC (over power lines) and WiFi connections so it will automatically use whatever is best for backhaul once you have it setup.

The App will tell you how its connected, quite often it a blend of PLC and WiFi

@Philbert , thanks a million for taking the time to reply.

I understand I can use either powerline/Wi-Fi. However, the throughput on Ethernet is higher than the one on powerline. So, given my specific application, for this particular node, I need the Ethernet Backhaul.

The FAQ states that to setup the Ethernet Backhaul, I need to first setup the mesh via Wi-Fi. Once this is up and running, I plug the Ethernet cable. The difficulty for me is setting up the mesh via Wi-Fi (given I need to plug the router to electricity, the nodes sync up through powerline, which is exactly what I don't want at this particular location).

thoughts?

Yeah seen that before in the older version.

I literally just set it up in the same room as the first one using WiFi, then moved it to the new location and plugged in the LAN cable.  It took a few mins to reconfigure itself, but it worked a treat!

@Philbert , that sounds like exactly what I need: how do I set it up as Wi-Fi? Because when I plug it in electricity, it starts using powerline.

The deco will decide itself what is fastest, be that WiFi or PLC, its not something you need to configure.   It doesnt really matter how it is setup if honest, be that powerline or WiFi as these will both be disabled when you plug in a LAN cable.   Deco uses LAN cable as primary

Just ignore the PLC status, as long as its online and active.  Power it down, move to new location and LAN connect.   Boot up and let it settle for a few mins, hopefully should be ok for you
