Model: RE605X
Hardware Version: V3
Firmware Version: 1.0.11

Got the device in a simple repeating mode, all settings are by default. I've tried to disable 2.4G completely, nothing changed.

Even with 0 connected clients it's extremely hot - can't touch it with a hand for longer than 3 seconds. (Located in a ventilated, even drafty place.)

To compare, got a powerful router with passive cooling under high load - barely warm.

There is a very big chance that this is a software issue. Please investigate, something is not right.

@sapone Hi, welcome to the community.

May I know how long you have had the extender? Did this issue start since you purchased the extender?

I see the latest firmware was released about 1 month ago but I haven't seen similar feedback before.

If you don't mind, could you please help me run a simple test:

1. Downgrade the firmware from 1.0.11 back to 1.0.10

RE605X(US)_V3_1.0.10 Build 20230307

It could be complemented via web UI directly: How to upgrade the firmware of my range extender (method 2)

2. Then check again whether the extender is still easily overheating.

Thank you very much and wait for your reply.

Best regards.

Hello @David-TP

I just bought it yesterday.

It was very hot with the original firmware already.

After two hours of usage I've decided to upgrade the firmware.

  @sapone

Thank you very much for the update.

If we run a factory reset again, then do not set it up this time and just power it up for 1-2 hours in standby mode. Will it still easily become very hot?

If yes, I do suggest replacing it with the shop retailer first.

Wait for your reply and best regards.
