Hi guys,

I had a setup with AV500 Powerline adapters, with one in my garage (located about 30m) from the house.

it worked well for years, but just had the consumer unit upgraded in the garage for an EV charger to be fitted, but the Powerline adapter is no longer working.

adapter works fine in the house and connects easily, but once in the garage it doesn't seem to have any network connection (3rd light down is not illuminated).

it's strange because it did work, albeit intermittently for the first couple of hours after the new fuse box was installed.

any help much appreciated.

Hi,

Was this fuse box installed for a single-phase charger to be fitted or a three-phase charger? (if the EV charger is 11 kW or even 22 kW, then it must be three-phase for sure)

In case the new fuse box provides three-phase electrical power, then the wall socket in your garage might now be wired to a different phase than your house, which Powerline adapters usually can't cope with well.

  @woozle many thanks for the reply. It's just a single-phase charger - standard 7KW.

That's odd about the Powerline adapter issue after the consumer unit upgrade. Maybe there's some interference with  Garage Stops new setup. Have you tried resetting the adapter or checking for any loose connections in the garage? It's strange that it worked initially. Hope you get it sorted soon! 🛠️🔍

If your premises are supplied with a three-phase connection by your electricity supplier, then you might still want to ask the electrician if he may have now connected your garage to another phase than the house, for reasons of load balancing.
