Model: RE650
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: 77836

Hi,

I had a cheap AP located in the house about 50meters away, running on old CAT5 Ethernet cable down to my flat, into netgear switch GS105v5 Pro Safe and a GS108v4 Pro Safe. I could see everything else in the flat was running a 1Gps

So when i purchased the RE650 to setup up as Access Point for wireless CCTV cameras, I replaced ther old cat 5 cable as it it only had a max speed of 100Mps with new CAT6 cable tp ther house. As i thought the overall performance of the AP when accessing my cameras remotely would incrrese 10fold.

For the life of me the RE650 on same CAT6 cable as everything else here plugged into same switch is showing 1 blinking green led meaning 100Mps, and i cant for the life of me understand why if the RE650 has a Gigabyte Ethernet RJ45 connection, like all my other gear WILL NOT run as 1Gps only at 100Mps

As i understand when i access the CCTV cameras using mobile data from 10 miles away, the cat 6 cable speed is the max speed at which my cameras can connect to the net? (correct me if im wrong), so i assumed id have 1Gps not 100Mps on the Ethernet cable,

The whole purpose of the exercise and money spent was to make the response time of the multiple cameras Pan Tilt Zoom functions 10 times faster when remotely operating and using the 2 way voice/talk  particularly, as on Cat 5, yther 2 way talk was broken up and laggy and not really useful to tell the delivery guy, you cant sign for the parcel, as im not home for example. Or tell ther paramedics to jump the gates, im dying here.

So i have i upgraded everything for nothing?>

Thoughts>?

Hi, Have you tried to reset RE650 once before? Did the reset make any difference?

I think the CCTV cameras are mainly 2.4GHz only, have you tested the 5GHz Wi-Fi speed using the mobile phone?

If possible, you could run a simple test:

1. unplug RE650 from the GS105 and connect a laptop to its only Ethernet port.

2. then check the wired link speed on the laptop:

How to check the associated/link speed on a wired client

Thank you very much and best regards.

Sadly my work laptop does not have RJ45 Connector, ill try stretch out the cat6 to the desktop from Re650 as it only goes to the switch atm, i tired this test on my very old ACER netbook. But as expected the ethernet port on its old hardware is 100Mps max so couldn't tell I'll let you know asap. Many Thanks

Hi,

I am not sure I've understood this correctly. Is the 50 meter long cable being used to connect the GS105v5 Pro Safe with the GS108v4 Pro Safe or does the 50 meter long cable connect the RE650 to one of the two switches?
