Model: Deco S7
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.4.1 Build 20230324 Rel.50892

Hi, I have a MESH Network with 2 XE75, 2 X60 and just add a new one S7.

Just added this new S7 exactly because in 1 specific room of my house the signal is not strong enough.

What is happening... I can see that the router is connected on my mesh network.

But no devices are being connected on S7 so far - which is the closest one

I even made a test, turning off all other 3 devices (1 XE75 and 2 X60), just keeping the S7 and the main router (X75 that is connected to internet). And even that, a notebook and a mobile are not choosing to connect S7. Both, even the signal is very poor they connect on XE75.

So, please... need some assistance to see what is going on and what I can do it. As on this room the signal is so poor and looks like this new S7 router is not working as expected.

  @AlexBorges

Hi, Nice to see you again.

I think the current two issues are related.

It seemed like Deco S7 hasn't been properly admitted by the existing mesh system.

It is suggested to refer to the suggestions here first:

By the way, have you tried to reset Deco S7 and set it up again before?

Wait for your reply and best regards.

Hi @SteveEF , unfortunatelly I needed to create an workaround.

Now I have 2 networks at home.

Have connected 1 S7 router to my main router XE75 - configured as Access Point.

And then created this new WiFi network for these 2 S7 routers.

It is a not clean solution. But as I have few devices to utilize on this network... I am switching manually.

Not using mesh capability for that.. which is a very bad for user experience... but.. it is what it is.

I did not try to put the same network name and password on this new network, as I am worried that could cause a huge confusing on accessing, connecting, etc.

Have choose the most safe and proven solution.

Constantly I am checking if TP-Link is making new firware version... but so far.. nothing new until now.

Cheers,

Alex

  @AlexBorges

Thanks for the response Alex. Have tp-link said/agreed it's a problem that needs a firmware update?

I think I'll return mine and get another X50 if that's the case.

Thanks

  @SteveEF .. if you can return... I would say that is the best choice.

Unfortunatelly will spend more money on other equipment.. it is more expensive for sure.

About TP Link return... NO... there is no formal feedback from anyone from TP Link so far.

cheers,

Alex
