Model: Deco M4
Hardware Version: V2
Firmware Version: deco_f3f8

Hi,

I have one router (also from TP-link) and 2 Deco M4 units.

I setup the network (with wires) in 2 other rooms, so I have:

1. Router (name: XXXXX)

2. Deco M4 bedroom (name: XXXXX-B)

3. Deco M4 living room (name: XXXXX-S)

4. All passwords are the same

Concerns:

1. If I move from one room to another, I need to manually switch to the strongest signal

2. The wireless printer is connected to XXXX-B, so if you want to print, you must be in the same network

Questions:

1. Should all the network names (router and 2 Deco) be the same?

2. Is it possible that this Deco M4 doesn't have "mesh" capabilities or I didn't setup the network correctly?

Thanks a lot in advance for your help

  @Inwentarz

Hi, Do you create 2 Mesh networks on the Deco APP via each M4 unit?

I think you need to add the second M4 into the mesh network of first M4, then switch the operation mode to access point so that you could wire both M4s to the TP-link router directly.

How to add an additional unit to your Deco network

How to set up Deco to work in Access Point mode

As for the SSID, you should use the same name and it would be better if you could disable the SSID on the TP-link router, leave the Mesh Wi-Fi of M4 only.

Thank you very much and best regards.
