Archer AX1800 not working in router mode with a modem in bridge mode
Hey there,
I've purchased a AX1800 with the scope of using it as my main router due to better WiFi signal that my ISP's device.
The ISP is Vodafone in Europe, and it's using a coaxial cable. I've set the ISP's router in bridge mode and connected one of its LAN ports to the the WAN port on the AX1800 which is running in router mode.
Now, the ISP router which is running in bridge mode is running as 192.168.100.1 and subnet mask 255.255.255.0 whilst my AX1800 running in router mode is 192.168.1.1 with subnet mask 255.255.255.0.
In the AX1800, I've set up a static IP address of 192.168.100.2 with mask 255.255.255.0 and I can confirm I can ping the bridged ISP router at 192.168.100.1, however no internet as far as AX1800's network is concerned. The route tables in AX1800 do direct traffic from 0.0.0.0 to 192.168.100.1 (the bridged router). Also, 192.168.1.0 and 192.168.100.0 point to 0.0.0.0.
To test this further, I connected my computer to the bridged ISP router with the same RJ45 cable I used to connect to the AX1800 (therefore I disconnected the AX1800) and set up the same static IP address of 192.168.100.2 and mask 255.255.255.0 and I can confirm it works: I can access the internet.
I've also tried using the same MAC address as the laptop on the AX1800, but no difference.
I'm a bit unsure why the same setup with a laptop manages to get internet access whilst the same setup with the AX1800 fails to connect?
Currently, I'm back using my ISP in router mode with WiFi off and AX1800 in AP mode and all the devices connecting to the AX1800 WiFi, which is working well.
