Model: Deco
Hardware Version: V20
Firmware Version: 1.4.1 20231122 40485

I set two DNS servers in the DHCP settings in the Deco app. Let's say those IPs were 10.10.10.10 and 1.1.1.1. I want these two IP addresses to be sent by the Deco (DHCP server) to the DHCP clients.

When I do "ipconfig /all", I get:

   DNS Servers . . . . . . . . . . . : 2607:f798:18:10:0:640:7125:5204
                                       2607:f798:18:10:0:640:7125:5198
                                       10.10.10.10
                                       1.1.1.1

My question is why is the Deco DHCP server still sending the DHCP client the first two IPv6 IPs here? I did not specify those, and I do not want them.

PS. I have no idea how to find out what "Hardware Version" I'm at so I put V20.

@philivey81 the first two are IPv6 DNS servers and the second two are IPv4 DNS servers. You have set two IPv4 DNS servers, but you also need to set two IPv6 DNS servers.

@Divad There are only two input boxes to enter IP addresses. The input boxes are "Primary DNS (Optional)" and "Secondary DNS (Optional)". Can you refer me to where in the DHCP RFC it says you need two IPv6 and two IPv4 for the DNS server options that get pushed? That doesn't seem correct.

@philivey81 have a look at the IPv6 settings.

That doesn't make sense. There are no IPv6 settings anywhere in the app (at least as it relates to DHCP/DNS), and anyway, DHCP does not require both IPv4 and IPv6.

Can an actual TP-Link support person please chime in here?

  @philivey81

Hi, You can find the IPv6 detailed settings here:

Take "Dynamic IP' for example,

The DNS settings here are automatically assigned by the ISP which doesn't support customization.

Best regards.

@David-TP if you click on 'IPv6 Connection' then you can manually set the DNS servers.
