Model: Deco S7
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version: 1.4.5 Build 20231128

Hi, I have 3 Deco S7's ethernet hard wired to my Virgin Hub 3 router which is in 'modem mode' and my Deco mesh wi-fi is working OK. My problem is that every morning my master Deco LED is steady red and the other 2 satellite Deco LED's are flashing red. However, all 3 Deco's still have a good internet connection and the Deco App says: 'everything looks good'. If I do nothing and take no action, then 3 to 4 hours later by about midday the LED’s on all 3 of the Deco's have ‘healed’ themselves and turned off (I have the LED’s turned off in the App by default). The wi-fi and internet continues to work OK on all 3 Deco’s throughout this whole process, so the problem seems to be with the LED messaging itself. This is because if I reboot all 3 Deco’s in the App then all the LED’s turn off correctly, but the next morning the LED’s always revert to the same messaging with the main Deco showing steady red and both satellite Deco’s flashing red as described above.

My question therefore is:  How can I stop my Virgin Hub 3 and Deco S7 mesh wi-fi system from showing these seemingly incorrect red LED messages every morning and then ‘self-healing’ the LED messages 3 to 4 hours later?

Thanks for any help you can give.

  @HectorDeco

Thank you for responding, however, several other Deco users on the forum are also experiencing the same daily LED problem which appears to be due to a bug in the TP-Link Deco firmware itself.

This bug has apparently now been fixed with firmware update version 1.5.0, but unfortunately this latest update is not yet available to any Deco users in the App. As a new Deco user of  only1 week I think TP-Link's Deco creates an excellent mesh wi-fi system, but I was surprised that a software bug like this still hasn't been rolled out to all users in the App, so hopefully TP Link will fix the App without further delay. Here is the link re the firmware update:  https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/forum/topic/639992https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/forum/topic/639992

In the meantime and pending TP-Link's release of their fix to the App's firmware problem, here is a great workaround which involves using the 'LED Control' in the App to set the LED's to come on for just 1 minute every day and then turn off again. This workaround has totally resolved my daily LED problem and the link to it is here:  https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/forum/topic/624408?replyId=1260348https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/forum/topic/624408?replyId=1260348

Hope this helps.

  @HectorDeco

Hi,

It seems that the LED lights are not showing the right status.

For your case, please try to reset the Deco and then set up again, and test if the issue still exists.
