Model: Deco X20
Hardware Version:
Firmware Version: 2.0.6 Build 20240115 Rel. 55945

Haven't had any issues for the last year or so, and suddenly none of our devices can get YouTube to play and can't download from the Google Play Store. Gmail seems to be fine. All other apps and web browser works without any issues. YouTube issue is across both Apple iOS and Android devices.

YouTube and Google Play Store work fine when using mobile 4G to connect, and also work when connecting to a wifi network not using a Deco, so it's definitely the Deco causing the issue.

Have tried the following:

1. Rebooting all devices (including modem) multiple times (including at most stages tried below)

2. Factory reset on Deco

3. Changing DNS to the Google DNS (following the instructions here https://www.tp-link.com/au/support/faq/1855/) which did not work, so changed it back which also did not work.

The only thing that works is changing the Deco to an Access Point. This allows YouTube and Google Play Store to work as they should. However I do not want it to be an Access Point as means I don't have the Parental Controls or ability to manage priorities or a guest network.

Can someone, anyone help? I'm about to return it to the telco and go for a non tp-link branded mesh router, or just toss it out the window altogether!

  @mskdnj35

Hi, Thank you very much for the feedback.

Have you made any changes to the Deco X20 recently?

Deco X20(NZ-V) _1.20_2.0.6 Build 20240115 Rel. 55945 is an ISP-customized version for local internet service provider Vodafone. I saw you also commended here: https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/forum/topic/683468.

It would be highly appreciated if you could report to Vodafone as well. Maybe the ISP could check whether there is a new firmware available for test.

At the same time, please test whether the following suggestions help:

1. Please change the MTU size to 1460 or you could refer to this link to find the proper MTU size:https://www.tp-link.com/en/support/faq/190/

2. Temporarily disable Parental control and "Malicious Content" under Network Security to see whether they helped.

Thank you very much and best regards.
