Model: Deco BE65
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.0.8 Build 20240723 Rel. 26458 (Japanese)

I'm using Deco BE65 in bridge mode and it's very fast. I need bridge mode, coz my ISP's ONU has router function. 2xDeco connected wirelessly in mesh network. Main Deco connected to ONU by ethernet cable. Synology NAS connected to main Deco also by ethernet cable. It mostly works fine. Speeds from to NAS are ok. but I have an issue.

NAS has mobile apps. If I try to login to NAS from Deco WiFi network from DS File or first login from Synology Photos my Internet dies for all devices in network for several minutes. then it works again.

but if I turn off WiFi and do the same via phone LTE network, I can connect to NAS without issues.

I saw similar issue on this forum, but it says it fixed in latest Deco update, but for me it's not fixed as described above.

Is it known issue with my Deco or there is a new one and are there workarounds and plans to fix it?

  @NoAngel

Here is what I have. My Synology NAS DS220+ is wired directly to the router (it would be to Huawei EchoLife HG8045Q in your case). I run Deco mesh in AP mode, just like you.

With that setup, I have no issues with Synology apps.

I know that might not be the perfect solution for you, but connect Synology NAS to Huawei HG8045Q with Ethernet cable and see if that fixes the issue.

  @NoAngel

Hi, nice to see you again.

Are you able to constantly reproduce the current issue?

Would the main Deco BE65 turn red during the disconnection?

I'd like to follow up on your case via email. Please check whether you can receive my email later.

Thank you very much and best regards.

 Hi,  @David-TP !

>Are you able to constantly reproduce the current issue?

Yes, it happens every time I trying to use Synology apps like DS File(happens on login), Synology Photos(happens on every login from new device), maybe other Synology apps(DS Finder, I think it happened on open app...), but I'm not using them since bought Deco very often.

Every time issue happens, Internet connection recovers after random interval. First time it happened I tried to reboot everything except Deco, OFF/ON WiFi, but just wait for several minutes is enough.

>Would the main Deco BE65 turn red during the disconnection?

I thought, no, but tested it again. When Internet dies, main Deco LED stays green, but after while goes red for a short time, then switches back to green, then Internet appears, and dies again, then it goes red and after 2-3 seconds green again. It repeats 3-4 times, and then Internet connection recovers.

When Internet on Deco is unstable, I tried to connect from another device to ONU, and Internet works perfectly fine when connected to ONU. At the same time there is no Internet on Deco before it recovers by itself.

How to reproduce - I opened a DS File app and it logins to Synology NAS, then it appears to work. I think hmm, looks like cannot reproduce, then opened DS Finder, it also worked. Hmm, wait a bit, and it happens... timeout in browser, all devices in network connected to Deco suddenly give timeout. Then green-red-green on main Deco 3-4 times, and finally Internet connected and works like before.

Internet ---optic fiber cable---  ONU(Huawei EchoLife HG8045Q) ---ethernet--- main Deco(bridge mode)

main Deco ---WiFi--- second Deco

main Deco ---ethernet--- Synology NAS(DS223j)

*my ONU is router, so I can't use Deco in router mode, it suffers from double NAT and very slow :(

**Internet on ONU is very stable, but its WiFi only uses WiFi 5 and a bit slow(~450Mbps DL). I only have half of speed of Deco WiFi if connected directly to ONU WiFi. But cable connection to ONU gives 1Gbps, and when connected to Deco from Pixel 7 via WiFi 6E(6GHz) it gives almost 1 Gbit(~850-940Mbps) - which is much faster than ONU WiFi.

***I used a pair of Huawei AX3 very cheap WiFi 6 routers in bridge mode and some proprietary mesh in similar configuration to Deco and Synology NAS never had a single issue for months, but those cheap routers are slower than Deco...

  @Alexandre. My ONU is near main Deco so just connected NAS to ONU and looks like no more disconnect, works. Speeds from network clients to NAS are similar to when it was connected to Deco. This way it's stable, so I'll keep it. Thanks!
