Issue Phenomenon

Occasionally, users reported that they couldn’t enable 5GHz Mobile Hotspot, and Errors like “We can’t set up mobile hotspot” or "The selected network band isn't available. Select a different band and try again" showed up.

Troubleshooting Suggestions

If you experienced a similar issue, please refer to the following troubleshooting guide:
1. Make sure both the wireless driver and computer system/BIOS are up to date.

• If you have a Realtek adapter, it is suggested to install the following driver first- https://community.tp-link.com/en/home/forum/topic/509006

2. If you use the hotspot to share the current Wi-Fi connection on the computer,  please set the Host router's 5GHz Wi-Fi to channel 36-48. Certain channels, such as DFS channels are not supported to be used for mobile hotspots.-Successful user case

3. If it is to share the Ethernet connection or Cellular connection, it is suggested to try the following suggestions:

• Use "Command Prompt" to Set the Frequency to 5GHz.

Start the hotspot with:netsh wlan start hostednetwork;

Set the hotspot frequency to 5GHz:netsh wlan set hostednetwork band=5

• Under Device Manager>Properties>Advanced, set the Preferred Band to 5GHz band.
