Hello everyone!

I bought an Archer GE800 as a router with the idea of also buying a Deco BE9300 Tri-Band BE65 to use as a Wi-Fi satellite. Unfortunately, after hours of trying, I couldn't get them to work together.

The BE65 works perfectly on its own, but I can't get it to mesh with the GE800, despite the information I found on the Internet before my purchase. Is this possible?

Each device has its own application (Tether for the GE800 and Deco for the BE65) and creates its own network. When it comes to connecting them, it works fine on RJ45, but I can't manage to do it on Wi-Fi, as I could with another BE65 base station.

Has anyone else succeeded? If so, how did you go about it?

I'm a bit stuck and starting to think that I might have to send one of the two devices back and opt for something more compatible, if I don't find a solution soon. Thanks in advance for your help!

EasyMesh and Deco mesh are different mesh Wi-Fi solutions provided by TP-Link, so you cannot build up a mesh system by mixing the Archer and Deco. Check this FAQ for more details.

It's suggested to return the GE800 or the Deco BE65 and make sure you're purchasing the same system, EasyMesh Products or Deco Mesh Devices.

Thank you very much for your reply!
If I keep the Archer GE800 as a router, can I use the Archer BE550 as a wifi satellite to extend the network?

Thanks again for your help.

Best regards.

Yes. Both GE800 and BE550 support EasyMesh, so they can build up a mesh system.

  @Kevin_Z

Ok, great, thanks a million! 😊

One final question, please: if we don't yet have Wi-Fi 7-capable devices but do have Wi-Fi 6E-capable devices, is it better to opt for a Wi-Fi 7 router (even if it doesn't offer Wi-Fi 6E, such as the B65 or Archer BE550) or for a router that offers Wi-Fi 6E without Wi-Fi 7, such as the TP-Link Deco XE75 Wi-Fi 6E?

I ask because I understand, but am not sure, that a router offering only Wi-Fi 7 without including Wi-Fi 6E might be less effective with a Wi-Fi 6E compatible device, compared to a router specifically designed for Wi-Fi 6E.

Thanks again for your help!

@Kevin_Z Hello,
Can you just tell me about the question in my last message (Wifi 6E or wifi 7)? I'm impatient to order my equipment and I'm waiting for your opinion before doing so. 😊
Thank you again, sincerely.

Sorry for missing this thread.

If you don't have Wi-Fi 7-capable devices, or you may only own Wi-Fi 5 or Wi-Fi 6 devices, a Wi-Fi 6E router will provide excellent performance and features, including improved speeds and reduced congestion. However, a Wi-Fi 7 router may be more future-proof, offering advanced features and higher speeds that will benefit your network as you upgrade your devices over time.

Wi-Fi 7 has introduced many new technologies, such as MLO, 4K-QAM, 320MHz Bandwidth, 16x16 MU-MIMO, etc. You may read this article to know more details about the difference.

If budget is not a concern, a Wi-Fi 7 router might be the better option (in my opinion).
