Region : UnitedKingdom

Model : TD-W8980

Hardware Version : V1

Firmware Version : 130820

ISP : A&A

My ISP requires me to use PPPoA to connect via DSL. The W8980 router works fine with IPv4, but does not allow IPv6 to be enabled. Enabling IPv6 is an option if using PPPoE connections.

I upgraded my firmware to latest release, then contacted TP-Link support, who suggested I download the latest beta: http://www.tp-link.com/resources/software/TD-W8980_v1_130820_Beta.zip This made no improvement.

Has anyone else managed to enable IPv6 using PPPoA?

Hi TP-Link - has this problem now been sorted? At leadt one of the largest UK ISPs, Sky, uses PPPoA, but the firmware for my TD-W8970 doesn't allow IPV6 to be enabled. Seems like a bug?

Hi guys, what kind of IPv6 tunnel does your ISP provide to you?
Here is an instruction to setup 6to 4 Tunnel & 6RD Tunnel .
http://uk.tp-link.com/faq-871.html

It these two tunnel can't work, check with your ISP what kind of IPv6 Tunnel it should be, DS-lite、6rd or 6to4 .

I am not sure tunnelling comes into it. Both Sky and BT provide native IPv6. I had issues with the TDW8968 which does not properly support IPv6 on Sky - it is related to a /56 prefix rather than the default /64 and the current firmware does not support that. I have abandoned TP-Link routers and use the supplied Sky one.

Hi Davews, you may send a feedback to TP-link support at support.uk@tp-link.com.
Maybe they can help to develop a beta firmware.
