Unit was working fine but when I went into Tether app, it said there was new firmware so I updated it.  status reached 100% and and a timer appear for about 2 minutes.  Unit never came back online and green power light is the only one that lights up.  Tried factory reset but noting happens.  Not broadcasting any SSIDs.  Looks like the firmware update bricked the unit even though the Tether app told me to update.  This unit is 3 years old and out of warranty.  

 

Can anything be done to revive the unit?

Hi  @nocsysop,

Did you reset the RE220 as below: Keep the power on, use a pin to press the button for 1 second to reset the extender.

Please install firmware here: https://www.tp-link.com/us/support/download/re220/v2/#Firmware

The FAQ can tell you how to update firmware manually.

 

After above steps,can you see the default SSID ‘TP-Link_extender’of RE220?If yes, please configure the extender again.

Yes, reset button does nothing. Tried holding it for 5, 10, and even 60 seconds pressing after power on, pressing before power on and then plugging in, but is has no effect. Seems like the firmware update process does not work as others also had this happen.
