Unable to reassign mesh network structure?
My network system uses a Deco X50 (provided by my internet provider) as the main Deco and four Deco X20 (all mine) sets as satellites/nodes. My network got set by default (by itself) so only nodes 1 and 2 are connected to the main Deco, while Deco 4 is connected to Deco 3 which is connected to Deco 2, as shown in the picture below. The thing is, Deco 4 is technically the closest to the Main Deco, and Deco 3 is the second closest to it. Yet they weirdly connect in series to Deco 2 which is on the main floor, while Deco 3, 4, and the Main are all in the basement.
I would like to reassign all Deco satellites/nodes to connect to the main Deco, to avoid losing internet speed every time the connection goes from one node to the other. For example, my PS5 is connected to the ethernet port of Deco 4 and I cannot get more than 120 Mbps of downloads while my internet service is for 500 Mbps.
Unfortunately, within the Deco App (v. 3.8.88) I do not seem to find any option for connection preference on any of my Decos.
How do I reassign the deco network so each satellites/nodes are connected to the main Deco rather than in series as shown?

Well, as I said, you are out of luck with software Connection Preference feature, with what Decos you have. If it is possible, you could try Ethernet cable or Ethernet over coaxial (over TV cable) to link Decos the way you want.
Even if you can only wire Deco 3 to Main Deco, that'll make difference for Deco 4 and devices connected to Deco 4.
If your house has TV cables you could reuse for wired Ethernet link, I'll tell you what hardware to get to make it work.

I have three X20 v2.0 and one X20 v1.2. The v1.2 is on firmware v1.5.3, it's actually one of the X20 v2.0 that is on firmware v1.0.3, which the Deco app says it is on the latest update.
Nevertheless, after waking up this morning and checking my network on the app, the nodes magically structured themselves exactly how I wanted them.
Thanks to you and @Alexandre I understand that there is nothing I can do unless I replace my Decos with a model that support connection preference.

Connection Preference feature will become visible in Deco app only when all Deco units in Deco mesh support it. You have X50 and X20s, it appears either one of these models or both do not support connection preference.
I may be able to figure which one, if you can share screenshot of Update Deco page from your Deco app with me. Example is below.

According to the app all of my Decos firmware are up to date. Here are the firmware version and build extracted from the app.
- Main Deco X50
- 2.0.10 Build 20240821 Rel. 48325
- Deco 1, 2 and 4
- 1.5.3 Build 20231227 Rel. 62097
- Deco 3
- 1.0.3 Build 20210205 Rel. 35873

Unfortunately, not one of your Deco X20 supports Connection Preference feature. They have different firmware versions, because they came with different hardware version. I am guessing, you bought 3-pack X20 (Deco 1, 2 and 4) and then separately single Deco X20 unit (Deco 3).
I can't tell if X50 supports Connection Preference or not, from looking at its firmware version, because X50 appears to be on customized for Internet provider firmware. Firmware is quite fresh, released in August 2024, so it might.
It may be possible to figure that for your X50, as I have an idea how to do that, but this does not make any difference unless you replace all your X20s with Decos which support Connection Preference feature.

The weird part is that Deco 1, 2, and 3 are all hardware version 2.0 while Deco 4 is on hardware version 1.2. Yet Deco 3 is the one with a different firmware version compared to the other X20s.
I switched internet provider few months ago to go from 400 Mbps to 500 Mbps at a lower price and with fiber. Yet, from experience I seemed to have a better overall speed management on my X20s when they were used as satellite on my old cable internet provider.

Hi, welcome to our community.
As @Alexandre. said, your Deco X50 is a customized model by some ISPs only, according to its firmware version, which is different from normal versions.
For your three Deco X20 V1.2 with firmware version 1.5.3, they does not support to choose signal source. This guide is for your reference.
For your single one Deco X20 V2 with firmware version 1.0.3, it supports to choose signal source. But the firmware is too old, so it is suggested to update firmware to latest 1.2.5 according to the official website.
