Hello,

I'm using the TL-MR3420 with a TP-LINK MA180 3G modem. My problem is, that the connection is extremely unstable. It usually drops after about 5min then the router fails to reconnect and the only thing that helps is rebooting it -- then it works again for 5 min and so on...

I'm pretty sure I've isolated the router as the problem, because I tried different SIM cards from different ISPs and another modem -- all combinations work when plugged directly into a laptop but exhibit the above problem when used with the router.
I also tried all available firmware versions, but to no avail.

Any hints are appreciated.

use a mifi device like this one http://shop.vodafone.ie/shop/mobile-broadband/vodafone-mobile-wifi-r215-black connect via its usb cable (turn off wifi on MiFi device)
instead of usb dongle, works great and no compatible issues ans connect is made on MiFi device

I'm having the exact same problem except my modem worked fine for about 2 months and started doing this yesterday.

You shoud figure out it is modem issue or router issue. MA180 works fine when it is connected to PC directly???

My Router Hangs/Feeze after 5-10 min.

I upgraded my Router to the latest firmware:
TL-MR3420_V1_121123

And I have two USB modems:
Huawei E3276, This one doesnt work at all. It says Unknown in the System Log.
Huawei E392 is connected and working but, then the Router hangs every 5-10 minutes and Reboot/PowerOFF and then Power on is the ONLY solution.

This is very, very problematic for me.
I have Emailed TP-Link Support.
Hope they can help or if anyone else out there can Help is very appreciated!

Thx.!

Did you check compatibility list of MR3420 on their website? Your modems are in that list?
