TL-WDR4900 Wireless speed issues

I am having very frustrating wireless speed issues on the 2.4GHz band. I have a wired download speed of 200Mbps and Upload of 20Mbps (wired connection is from same router
and tested on www.speedtest.net), when testing the wireless connection using speedtest.net i get a download speed of between 0.1Mpbs and 5-6Mpbs at best, however Upload
speed is between 10 - 15Mpbs ???
on the 5GHz band I get between 80 and 120 Mbps down and 18 - 20 Mbps upload, which is great for the devices which are able to connect to the 5GHz but not so much for the ones
that can't. I have recently purchased 2 Chromecast devices which are virtually unusable because of this issue which is particularly frustrating considering the wired speed I
receive, and while I accept there will always be a loss with wireless I think the speed I have outlined above is a lot lower than i should expect, also as the upload speed seems
unaffected.
any suggestions or help on what the issue might be would be greatly appreciated
