When roam from AP2 to AP1, does the problem occur as well? You may try to adjust address lease time.
Or configure static IP to see if it helps.

The problem also happens with static ips defined.

Both APs are on the same subnet, all connected devices are also on the same subnet.

I'm using the latest firmware on both. After testing, the problem is located on the C7 router. When romaing from wifi to ethernet with any client, output to the ethernet port is delayed 3 or 4 minutes. Using wireshark/tcpdump shows that broadcast (stp/arp) traffic is exiting the router through the ethernet to the client, but no other packets could pass.After 3 or 4 minutes, connection is restored.

Looks like router is updating its ports using stp, and its implementation is buggy,

C7 is a router and not many people buy it but use it as an access point...But anyway, it is working quite good in my case.
If you verified that it is a configuration or firmware problem or something else, confirm with TP-LINK techinician directly.

C7 was the fastest/cheapest device to get wifi ac at that moment, as a bonus, it has a wam port, that can be useful in the future and has also good support from the openwrt community.

Local support from Spain (support.es@tp-link...) told me that 5 minutes were fine when switching between access points, and that there was no option to improve that.

Support people from support@tp-link.. have been very helpful, trying reproduce my setup in their lab. However, they haven't been able to figure why I have to wait 5 minutes to get connection back. I have sent them wireshark captures, screen captures, etc with no luck.

Got a multiple access point network configuration:
two AC7,
same SSID, same password, different channel,
configured as wired access point,
connected via ethernet to my ISP router, which provides internet access.
WAN, DHCP and NAT on the two AC7 is disabled.
I have to use use this setup to provide wifi to a large building,
because only one router won't give enough range.

I've got several wifi devices connected to each AP, and everything is working fine.

But there's a little issue:
When my devices, all with static ip and in the same subnet, roam from AP1 to AP2 (especially mobile devices),
they can no longer access to the internet.
Only after several minutes (about 3/4),
I get internet access again.
Why is this?
Have you found a way to reduce the waiting period from minutes to seconds?

This bug disappears if both C7 are connected through the WAN port,
and until now I have been using them by like that (WAN),
but now this is not ideal anymore as the clients cannot comunicate (printer) if connected on two different Archer C7,
so I would prefer them as wired access point.

Is this solved on the new FW?
Otherwise I'm sending them back as the 2y warranty is going to end soon...
