Help needed extending my wifi network (so that my Time capsule can be accessed)

Hi there,
Ive attached an image of my current network setup to help explain things. But basically, i am currently unable to access my Apple Time Capsule (and attached USB drive) when I'm connected via my NicksWifi2 wifi signal downstairs. If I'm attached to the NicksWifi signal all works fine.
Is there anything I can easily do to make my TPlink router behave like it is my main router?
Ive seen wifi extenders (and ones that go through power http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00ECBRGW8?colid=1O1PXGWZD901F&coliid=I3V052B XIQ2OD0&psc=1&ref_=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl) but I'm not sure if id have the same problem if I bought one of these?
any help would be much appreciated as this is quite frustrating
thanks!
Nick

What's the IP address of time capsule and WR840N? Can you try ping the time camsule's IP successfully when PC is connected to WR840N?

Configure the TP-LINK router as an access point, and then everything will be fine.
The following picture should be clear enough. The key point is that the secondary (TP-LINK) router should be connected to the main router LAN-to-LAN.
Hardware topology:
Internet-----------wan:mainrouter:lan----- powerlineA ~~~ powerlineB------lan:TPLINKrouter ))))) ((((( client devices
Settings on the TP-LINK router:
1. Set a static LAN IP which is different from the main router's to avoid conflict.
2. Leave the WAN port empty (disconnect any cables)
3. Disable DHCP server because client devices should obtain IP addresses from the main router.

Thanks so much for the reply. One thing I failed to mention in my diagram is that I have 1 device attached to my tplink router via Ethernet. Does this mean your suggestion wouldn't work? Thanks againNick

It will work because there are three LAN ports for you to connect other devices although you have connected the main router to one of its LAN ports.

Hi, Im sorry, but would somebody be able to tell me where in the TP-Link router page I can find the settings Im meant to change? I really don't know much about changing IPs or setting static LANs etc :( (if I leave the WAN port empty and disconnect any cables, how will the router receive its internet connection from my main modem?!)
many thanks!
many thanks!

Did you get it work? Although WAN port is unplugged, with DHCP disabled on TP-LINK router, your main router connected to its LAN by powerline adpaters will still work as the DHCP server in the network and you will still be able to access internet. No worries.
