TL-WA901ND v3 WiFi Max Tx Rate not correct

Region : UnitedKingdom

Model : TL-WA901ND

Hardware Version : V3

Firmware Version : 3.16.9 Build 141030 Rel.47420n

ISP : n/a

This morning I upgraded my TL-WA901ND v3 access point to the newest firmware. After doing so, the WiFi Max Tx Rate has reduced.

I have configured the access point with a 20MHz channel width and with Short GI enabled. Before the firmware upgrade, this resulted in a correct Max Tx Rate of 144Mbps. After the upgrade, it has dropped to 130Mbps, which corresponds to a Long Guard Interval.

I have tried toggling the "Enable Short GI" checkbox on and off, but the Max Tx Rate remains unchanged at 130Mbps.

The router settings are currently:

Status page
Wireless subsection

Operation Mode: Access Point
Wireless Network Name: [redacted]
Channel: 6
Mode: 11n only
Channel Width: 20MHz
Max Tx Rate: 130Mbps
MAC Address: 14-CC-20-[redacted]

The "Enable Short GI" checkbox is ticked on the Wireless Advanced page.

Any one have any idea what's wrong?

Could this be a regression in the latest firmware?

Thanks.

JM

Also tried changing to a 40MHz channel width. Max Tx Rate was reported as 300Mbps, which is correct for Short GI (would have been 270Mbps otherwise).

You shoulde use 40MHz as channel width. The network is secured with WPA2-PSK, AES?
Did you change any other settings? Can you reset it to factory defaults and check the Max Tx Rate?

I intentionally use 20MHz channel width to be considerate in a crowded wi-fi neighbourhood. I'm content with only getting about half of the 300Mbps the unit is capable of. I'm just puzzled about the drop from 144Mbps to 130Mbps.Yes, it's WPA2-PSK with AES (not that this should have any effect on wi-fi speeds)I'm pretty sure the firmware update reset the unit to defaults, as I had to reconfigure it from scratch afterwards. I can try that again though.
