Region : Australia

Model : TL-WR702N

Hardware Version : V1

Firmware Version : 4.18.102 Build 141203 R61146n HW v1.0

ISP :

Im in the process of attempting to setup a ChromeCast for the first time with my WR702N.

The ChromeCast can see the WR702N, but when attempting to register and join it the registration fails with Google's lovely generic errors that give you no idea why it failed (which obviously really helps in diagnosing the fault.... not).

On Google's site they state that the WR702N with "firmware" version v1.2 is confirmed as compatble. I'm wondering if anyone has successfully used a WR702N with a hardware version of v1.0 to work with a ChromeCast. Note that I've also updated the firmware on the WR702N to the latest (4.18.102 Biuld 141203 R61146n) with no success with setting up the ChromeCast

As to WR702N, HW V1.2 equals V1...
WR702N is working as a wireless router?
Reset your chromecast and try to reocnfigure it. If the problem continues, can you provide a screenshot of the error?

Ok thanks for the clarificaiton as I was a little confused by that

WR702N is working as a wireless router?

I have it in a pure AP role

When I created this thread, I was using a company laptop at home which runs a VPN process permanently connected to my company's network in the background that I cannot kill.Later I on decided to try installing the ChromeCast App on my phone and I found that by doing this I was able to manage the ChromeCast and join it to the WR702N wireless network without any issues, so I can only assume the VPN on the laptop was interferring when trying to use the laptop to configure the ChromeCast.

Thanks for your help and suggestions Vivian, and hopefully my experience may help others.
