For my VPN problems:
Today I got an mail from support. Long story short: site-to-site VPNs are not supported by the M8550.
The setting of "allowed IPs" and "NAT" in the client configuration are ignored and all traffic is NATed and pushed through the tunnel.
For my heat problem:
Also got some mails from support. It seems that the display backlight is not turned off in all situations. If you remove the battery and power the device by USB only, backlight stays on all the time. If running on battery, backlight gets switched off if screensaver kicks in and the device stays at room temperature.
I hope this gets fixed in an upcoming firmware.
I finally got mine - EU 1.0 Version delivered from Czech Republic market.
Device upgraded to Build 1.2.0 3.0.0 v60d8.0 Build 250704 Rel.43042n
On the battery power only, I noticed backlight on in night - it is not on the same level as when screen is activated , but noticeable and for sure, it is not fully disabled when compare to device in off state ( I took a picture with 2seconds exposure) .
Probably its not increasing heat but drains battery.
My device is getting quite warm - sometimes hot - then I also noticed, the charging battery is not going forward ( but status is still showing charging state) but thankfully I am not faced the overheat prompt yet.

Hi, thank you very much for the feedback.
After the previous troubleshooting, the engineer has managed to improve the last beta version and further adjust the hardware temperature.
If you're interested, I'll share the beta firmware via email.
Please let me know whether the new beta firmware helps.
Wait for your reply.
Best regards.
