Inquiry About 4G Router Models Compatible with International Use
Thursday

Hello,

I am based in France and I’m reaching out because I’m looking for a 4G router model that can be used internationally. I specifically need connectivity in the USA, New Zealand, Australia, and South Korea.I’m working with a SIM card provider whose cards automatically connect to local operators in these countries. However, I’ve encountered issues with the TL-MR100 model (purchased in France), which is unable to connect in the US. From what I understand, this might be due to the router’s incompatibility with the frequency bands used by local operators.

We did run a test where the router successfully connected to AT&T, but I assume this depends on the specific area in which it’s being used.

Can you confirm whether the TL-MR100 is incompatible with use in the US?
And if so, could you recommend any 4G router models that support international connectivity?

Thank you very much.

Best regards,

Hi, welcome to the community.

Most of the 4G/5G routers only have EU versions, and there is no mobile router sold in the US either.

So TL-MR100 hasn't been tested in the US, and it is very likely that it might not work.

I think Portable Travel Routers might be an alternative:

Thank you very much.

Best regards.

@David-TP Hi, thank you for your reply.

From what I understand, the models you suggested do not allow for a SIM card to be inserted in order to connect to local operators. However, this is the type of router I need, as I am looking for a model that can connect to 4G internationally through the activation of a SIM card inside. Do you have any other models to suggest?

Best regards,
