Firmware Version:

I recently upgraded to 1000 mbps with my provider. I already had 3 Deco E4's in my house but I learned that they only support 100 mbps via ethernet port so I bought an M4 to serve as the main deco since M4's have gigabit ethernet ports. However, my sattelite E4's are still limited to 100 mbps. Is something wrong with my Deco's or are they working as they should?

  @ARGamingPK1 The M4 is connected to the modem with an ethernet cable and I'm getting testing the speed on my cellphone and laptop via Wi-Fi.

  @cdgntrk

Hi, thank you very much for the feedback.

Can I have the firmware versions of both Deco M4 and Deco E4?

As there are 3 satellite Deco E4s, it would be better to temporarily power off the other two Deco E4s first.

After that, I hope you can help me run a simple test:

  • Place the satellite Deco E4 3-4 meters away from the main Deco M4
  • Stand next to the satellite E4 and test the WiFi speed

850m/s from the main Deco M4 is a very high speed, considering the maximum 5G link speed is up to 867mbps. Usually, the expected wireless speed would be about 450-650mbps. The satellite Deco speed will depend on the WiFi Mesh Backhaul connection speed and the physical interference/distance among Decos. It is often 50-70% of the main Deco speed. Ideally, 200mbps-400mbps on the satellite E4 will be normal.

Why is my satellite Deco unit not getting the same speed as the main Deco?

Although the main Deco M4 would help unlock the 100mbps Ethernet limitation of Deco E4, it would be better to replace the whole Mesh network with the gigabit-supported Deco models, such as Deco M4/S4.

Thanks a lot.

Best regards.

  @David-TP I only powered on 1 Deco E4 to test the speed and it is around 30-50 mbps in my room. The firmware for the M4R is 1.8.0 Build 20250721 Rel. 49216 and the sattelite E4S is 1.0.5 Build 20240904 Rel. 55470. I see that you said I would get pretty low speed compared to the main router but seeing just below 100 mbps when the sattelite is near the main and seeing 30-50 mbps when away from main router in my room is concerning.
