Around a year ago I bought a TL-WR740N router. Set up it with a small disk that i got with a package. Everything seemes ok and working. My internet was 3mbps at the time. Everything was ok until like 2 months ago. My ISP let me try out 6mbps speed internet so I could decide if I want to sign up a contract. Since then I started having a weird problem. Internet started to randomly drop for a split second, then again come back to normal. I am a World of Warcraft player and this problem can be clearly seen in game. My world ms goes from 50-70 to thousands in a second o so. usually I get disconnected because it completely stucks, but when I log in back its usually normal again for a while, then again same problem. I will attach a picture showing my high MS in game. But the problem can be seen not only in-game. Websites start to open very slowly, youtube videos dont load fast enough so I can actually watch them without any pauses. Later I tried changing back to 3mbps speed, but the problem didnt go away. After that I decided to change speed to 10mbps instead of 6 hoping that it might have been just a slow internet, but problem stayed. I am connected to the router with a wire, and my brother (who also has the problem (he plays the game too)) is connected through wireless connection. Things that I tried to do so far: changed my HDD to SSD (pretty much new windows), reinstalled the game, got my ISP to check all the equipment and check ping to their servers, contacted game engineers hoping that it is game problem, updating from win7 to win10. Nothing helped. After all these tries I decided to unplug my router and connect my computer dirrectly to modem. Everything works! Problem disappeared. So i decided it was my router problem so I changed it to a new one TL-WR840N. Also set it up with a disk I got with a router. Sadly, the problem stayed. Later my ISP provided me a router (same TL-WR840N model). My ISP also set that router up for me, STILL problem stayed. So I decided to google up any similar problems people had and tried all the things they did to solve the problem. So what i did: did a hard reset to router multiple times then set it back with a disk, updated firmware (from tp-link download center), changed channel many times, changed DNS servers to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4, disabled DHCP server. NOTHING works. Maybe anyone has any more ideas what i could do? By the way it cant be that my internet is used up by my family because the problem stays even when only I with a wired connection am connected to the router. I will upload some screenshots. 3 screenshots of my speedtest when I have a problem and a screenshot of the high MS in-game. High MS 90% of the time is the world one, and 10% of the time home one. By the way, I spotted that when my download speed drops like it is seen in the pictures, my upload speed stays pretty much normal (2.5-3)
