@MichaelR

update:

I still have random restarts after installing the firmware, but less restarts then before. My guess (after observing) is that the router gets hot and maybe overheating. It is on an open space (not hidden away) and haven't moved it since I have gotten the router. I hope this doesn't happen to often because I am out of ideas 😅 and not looking forward in buying a new one just yet.

Thanks SKHERE4U for your help by providing beta firmware to our customers, greatly appreciate it.

@MichaelR

When updating the firmware of your router, please verify the specific hardware version as well as region version first and ensure you are updating with the correct firmware, otherwise, it may damage your router and void the warranty.

As for the auto-reboot issue, you may try the below beta firmware provided by our developers:

https://static.tp-link.com/2020/202001/20200103/Archer C1200(EU)_V1_180308(Beta).zip

May this help~

@MichaelR

I was also struggling with the auto reboot of my AC1200 V1. The router randomly reboots and happening more than once a day. It went so bad and reboots every 1-2 hours, when my three children stream their online classes continuously for 5 hours a day. When I set the router transmit power to low, it seemed to help a bit and the reboot did not happen as often, but twice a day. It is from this I concluded the router got heated up so much that the CPU rebooted itself. I used some small circular plastic to raise the router up to allow more air to cool the router. Note that the ventilation holes are only at the bottom of the router. I have been monitoring for two days now and no more random reboots.

@alsome1

Good to know that. It is suggested putting the router in a well-ventilated location or mount it vertically on a stand that permits the free flow of air, you can also use a fan to cool the router, a regular fan or USB fan is fine.

While if the router still reboots, you may try the beta firmware I have provided to MichaelR, then monitor again.
