I am UK based and after a 2-port Wi-Fi extender kit. According to the UK TP-Link web-site, the latest model of the TL-WPA4220T KIT is labelled "AV600" and is "V1.20". However, this is not in stock at J Lewis or Amazon. Argos does have the older version of this, labelled "AV500". The fact sheets are identical for both models (although there is an "end of life" warning on the AV500 version). Is there any significant down-side to buying the older version (for use in a large student house where wi-fi speed is only 12mbps anyway). If it is just a cosmetic difference and a purely theoretical maximum throughput, I can live with it. Is there a firmware upgrade available to reach the new spec, and should I even bother to implement it?

V1 and V1.20 use different hardware. V1 can't use the firmware of V1.20.
AV500 and AV600 are theoretical maximum throughput.
AV500 should be enough if the bandwidth from internet provider is just 12mbps.
