@PeterAl Something has to be quirky with your environment... I have er605 and er7206 in the wild with no issues with Dynamic WAN settings. OR by chance you got a faulty device.

@EchoKos You could setup a Backup SSID on a VLAN. Then PBR that VLAN across WAN2. But if you have two WANs in failover mode. The internet will fail over for the whole router. Either way it will work...
