Archer AX6000 5Ghz stops working after app. 1 day
Hi,
I just bought a Archer AX6000 router. I'm having trouble with the 5 Ghz band. After a clean start up of the router the 5Ghz works fine. I have laptop, 2 phones and a tablet that can all connect to it. But after a day or so the connection is lost and I can't reconnect. The 5Ghz network is intermittend down. So, when scanning for networks sometimes the 5Ghz network is visible, but then dissapears again. This happens on all 4 devices, which make believe that the origin of the problem is with the router.
In a wifi analyzer app I see the same thing. The 5Ghz network is there, and then it isn't. Then it's back again and then it's gone again.
I updated the firmware to the latest available version, which is version 1.0.6.
Any ideas on how to solve this? Or should I return it?

I installed the beta firmware and then switched to Access Point mode.
That does seem to work, but I'm not able reach the router anymore. http://tplinkwifi.net does not work. Neither does http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.0.2 (which was the IP adress I assigned to it before switching it to access point mode).
When doing an "nmap -sn 192.168.0.0/24" (from linux terminal) I can see all the hosts connected to the router, but not the router itself. The only way I'm able to reach it is through the Tether Android app. But that has very limited capabilities when it comes to setting up the router.
Since I have a USB hard drive attached to the router I really need the user interface to set it up. Getting back to router mode was not possible, so I did a factory reset, restored my previously created backup and now I'm back where I began.

Hi,
I have not installed the beta software yet. I chose fixed channels for both 2.4ghz and 5ghz and that seems to have solved the problem. For now for me that is fine, I don't know what else is in the beta software en things seem stable here right now.
Thank you very much for the support.

Thanks for your update, glad to hear that you figured it out.
You can take more time to test its performance and stability, any updates, please keep me posted.
Best regards.

Unfortunately 5ghz stopped working, despite the fixed channel. it says Channel N/A in the browser in the tplink admin page. I will now try the beta software and see how that goes

I installed the beta software, channel selection on auto and 5ghz stops working after 1 hour, same symptons as before. the TP-link webinterface still says the channel (auto: current 36) instead of N/A with previous firmware version. But the actual problem is not fixed. I will choose fixed channels now with the beta firmware, it seems to occur less with fixed channels. It does mean the beta firmware does not fix this problem!

Thanks for your reply. There is no other beta firmware yet.
Cause the current one does not fix this issue, you can connect a hard drive into the USB port to collect the system log about the unstable connection.
For your information, this beta firmware supports log feature, all the system log will be back up to there automatically.
If it happens again, you can send us the txt file of the log and then we can do further analysis and try to find a solution.
Thanks for your support in advance.

I have a usb disk attached to router and I did indeed notice a log file :-)
I wasn't aware though that this was because of the beta firmware. But I have the beta firmware installed for about a week, without fixed channel and width, and I haven't had any trouble yet.
