I am here to join the crowd.  I have way too many apps for my smart devices and having two of them for the same company is dumb.

TP-Link have gone very quiet. I just purchased Tapo cameras and now wish I had not. This thread seems to show that TP- Link are totally disconnected from their customer base. I would respectfully suggest that TP- Link make some statement about their intentions to merge ( or not,) these apps into a single unified product

Yeah, this is the end for me and TP-Link smart home products. Not only did they introduce an incompatible line of products, but, like Kasa, the new line is stubbornly incompatible with HomeKit and does not support the emerging Thread standard that is being adopted by Apple, Google, and Amazon.

Why would I recommend a smart plug from a company that can't decide which of its 2 walled gardens should lock me in? Your brand confusión and disloyalty to your own customers will ensure that future sales will go to manufacturers that don't play these games.

@Solla-topee Hi, since it appears Tapo and Kasa apps are not joining, would TP-Link provide API or communication protocols specifications so a third party developers may create an app that work with both line of products (for the Android platform)?

Thanks.

@JohannesPaulus yes, it's a pain having to run 2 apps, one for KASA & one for TAPO devices. However, the ALEXA app will accommodate both series of devices, and to that extent you can integrate & manage all TPLINK smart devices through ALEXA. It's not a full integration as not all smart device features are managed through ALEXA, but the basics are there. Try it !

@r.h Has nobody heard of Google home?

One app for all your smart appliances? All in one place? Built in shortcuts for Android from you control panel etc

@Welshmun I've just added a Tapo WiFi plug when I've already got a kasa WiFi plug. Once I added Tapo to Alexa it booted kasa off. I've had to remove Tapo and Kasa and re-add kasa. So in my experience you can't manage both kasa and tapo through Alexa, it's one or the other. I found this thread looking for solutions.

@Solla-topee a single app to control both kasa and tapo devices would be ideal

Was soo close to buy a tapo bulb!

This is so stupid I can't comprehend it!
So stupid and misleading I now will look at other brands to phase out tplink completely.

The only words I have is to pretty much echo what everyone else has said.

What a complete joke. I started with with a Smart bulb from Kasa, due to one blowing a few years ago. As they have been replaced i've purchased replacement TP link bulbs.

Seems 'tp-link' isn't a brand anymore, (they've always had great tech products including network switches). Sounds like I will never be buying another tp-link device again.

Anymore know how to sideload/firmware flash lightbulbs to a different app. because that is where I'm heading, i'm not using an company app if they are doing this stuff, there is no technical reason for the two apps. (HomeAssistant can manage both so why not the app from the vendor direct?)
