I've seen a bit of conflicting information on the web, so thought I'd go to the source of all truth!   

• Do the Kasa Smart Plugs support a local API?

  -This is important as I intend to put them in sites that have a network, but for security reasons no internet access at all.

• Is there any commitment from TP-Link to maintain a local API in future firmware versions?

• Is there an official documentation for this APA? (I see there is a python-kasa library)
