Model: ER7206 (TL-ER7206)
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version: 1.3.0

We have a second wan connection which we want to connect for load balancing.

I have setup the second wan port as i did with the first one however i am required to use vlan ID 10 in order for it to work (same as first connection - both eir fibre)

Unfortunately i cannot seem to do this. Apparently a work around would be to have a smart switch between the second connection and setup vlan tagged and untagged ports?

Is this the ONLY solution at present? If so, how do i do this from within OMADA?

If i try to crete the VLAN under CREATE NEW LAN > VLAN > It tells me the vlan already exists as its configured on the original PPPOE connection

I dont think there is anyway with a TPlink router, let alone under Omada control to do this natively.

One option would be to put your second connection on VLAN11 say, and insert a managed (but not by Omada) switch to remap that back to VLAN10 before it hits your modem.

Can you use the existing 2nd modem in router mode and just fix the ip of router's WAN2  and then make it the DMZ?

thanks for response. Tplink official support advised this cannot be done with the current controller firmware but haven't provided any further assistance yet.

I will attempt your first suggestion as this has also been mentioned under previous threads it seems. I have a spare managed tplink switch I can try with. Is it simple enough?

im unsure about this..if it is possible it's beyond my understanding.

Ok, let us go with the more comfortable option for you.

Set up your router's WAN2 with the PPPoE credentials your provider needs, but leave it untagged.  Connect WAN2 to port1 of your managed switch.  Port1 will be configured with a PVID of 10 (or whatever is needed) but untagged.  Configure Port2 as VLAN10 (or whatever is needed by your ISP and TAGGED), I would initially make the PVID of Port2 a VLAN other than 10, 1 will work just fine--this will keep untagged traffic from hitting your router.  Connect Port2 to your modem.

Now what happens is untagged traffic appearing on Port1 will enter the switch as belonging to VLAN10.  That traffic will be forwarded to Port and get TAGGED as VLAN10 before it hits your modem.  The reverse path will accept tagged traffic but untagged it before it hits your router.

you have to untag at least one of the connections, your isp-provided box most likely has this option somewhere, it usually does not say "untag vlan" but says passthrough, pppoe passthrough or if you have fiber it may come in omci-like-speak port mapper, port remapping, whatever. if that does not help, buy the chepastest smallest managed switch you find here and do the untagging there.

The latest 5.11 controller provides support to reuse VLAN ids on different WAN ports.

I had a response from an engineer advising it would be available in the next update so this is good news.

is it available now?

im using an OC200 with version 2.9.3

when I check update availability it says I have the latest firmware.

The current Windows version of the controller has it, you'll need to wait for the 5.11 or 5.12 version for the OC200.

  @BUrrenAtlantic

New firmware files for omada routers have been released. With the new firmware the same vlan id can be used. For example, I have an ER8411 v1 device and after the latest update, I can use 4 pppoe with the same vlan id on the omada router.

When I checked on the support page, this feature was also included in the firmware update for your device.

For my device ER8411 V1, the same vlan id feature is provided with V1_1.2.0 firmware.
