Why i will never brought anymore TP-link !
Hello,
I wanted to give you a last chance about your product ... after brought a poor Wireless router.
I brought a duo Mesh E4, of course on box ... it was nowhere writen that Ethernet port was limited 100 Mbits !
How a device claiming wireless 300+800 Mbits could deserve a 100 Mbits ethernet ? ... it has no sense.
Of course ... it was intentionnally done that box has no mention about ... who can sell 100mbits for AC wireless ?
So you make fake advertisement about AC speed ... claming we can go over 300 Mbits / 800 Mbits ... of course it is possible but you force people to buy another more expensive drone to get gigabit ethernet but of course the 2 drones will be limited to 100 Mbits...
I will stop to buy your product and will not recommand in any future !
I will refurbish your product for weak use ...because this is what deserve your product !
Bye !

It is actually mentioned on the box, picture below.. 2 Fast Ethernet ports
Bear in mind the E4 is the cheapest and one of the oldest of the Deco range, a model which is now 3 generations out and was released when internet speeds were commonly sub 100mbps.
In terms of the WiFi.. Its down to specifications, AC was released at 800mbps (2x2) so to have an AC router you need to hit that standard, there are users who may use WiFi to WiFi transfers who would appreciate the faster speeds? Furthermore you wont get anything near 800mbps on AC anyways, likely around 400/450ish, at best and this is purely down to how the medium works, as mentioned when this deco was released anything near 100 wan was a pipe dream.
Perhaps you should have done your research first and not just bought what was cheapest?

@Philbert : 100 Mbits fast ... ? I do not think so ...and for sure not with fast download / Streaming , perhaps your ISP connection still use PSTN / modem ...
TP-Link was aware 100mbits was too low ... because then they had written 100Mbits ... not FAST ... fast doens't mean nothing ... fast Vs what ? a 56K modem ?
Do you know USB2 launched in 2008 is 480Mbits ... and USB3 Gen 1 is 5Gbps ... up to Gen 3 20 Gbps ...
No more any PC manufacturer sell a PC with a 10/100Mbits ethernet NIC ....who is still selling 100mbits device ? Only some lower connected device IOT ....
If you sell device with Wireless ACN ... over 300 mbits , it has no sense to put 100Mbits ethernet !!
It is like selling a car with high power motor and then claim you can go 200Km/h but your tires are limited to 100km/h but you can not change tires and will be limited endless !
Anyway story is over , i sold them half price and brought another brand where i had no complication, no cap , now i have around 600 Mbits full duplex, not limited when i want to copy file from 1 station to one another ! And do not getting slowdown when one device make update ...

I usually don't reply to random rants, but yours was so factually inaccurate and, quite honestly amusing that I will take 10 minutes and reply.
100 Mbits fast ... ? I do not think so ...and for sure not with fast download / Streaming , perhaps your ISP connection still use PSTN / modem ...
Well the average internet speed in Europe in 2023 is sitting at 118mbps, so a tad over 100mbps I grant you. However in 2020 when the Deco E4 was released the average speed was 68mbps. That aside its clear that 100mbps is fast enough for streaming, dont take my word for it however just ask Netflix who recommends 15mbps+ for 4k streaming. Plenty of bandwidth..
As you enquired, personally I have a 1GB FTTP connection.
TP-Link was aware 100mbits was too low ... because then they had written 100Mbits ... not FAST ... fast doens't mean nothing ... fast Vs what ? a 56K modem ?
I refer you to the 802.3u standard from the IEEE, or as its more commonly known FAST ETHERNET. Its an official name for 100mbps ethernet, not something TP Link made up, surprised you didnt know this?
Do you know USB2 launched in 2008 is 480Mbits ... and USB3 Gen 1 is 5Gbps ... up to Gen 3 20 Gbps ...
Yes I did thanks. Do you know what PAN (Personal Area Networks) are? That's the classification used for USB, its a PAN technology and not LAN. Just to clear this up, it's easier to send 480mbps down a 1meter vs 100meters or more, in summary, distance slows speeds.
Again surprised you didn't know this?
No more any PC manufacturer sell a PC with a 10/100Mbits ethernet NIC ....who is still selling 100mbits device ? Only some lower connected device IOT ....
Quite a lot actually. Firstly all LAN cards in newer devices support 10/100 connections right off the bat. However in terms of devices take the AXIS P1448-LE CCTV camera for example. At roughly €1000 would you class that as a lower IOT device?
If you sell device with Wireless ACN ... over 300 mbits , it has no sense to put 100Mbits ethernet !!
WiFi theoretical speeds are not evenly matched to LAN speeds due to the medium used, guard interval, packet size and transmission loss to mention a few, a simple Google will tell you this :)
100mbps LAN card could easily handle 300mbps WiFi. Did you not know this?
It is like selling a car with high power motor and then claim you can go 200Km/h but your tires are limited to 100km/h but you can not change tires and will be limited endless !
See above.. clearly not the case. Again, you bought the oldest, cheapest device on the range, then complained it performs like the oldest, cheapest device on the range..
Anyway story is over , i sold them half price and brought another brand where i had no complication, no cap , now i have around 600 Mbits full duplex, not limited when i want to copy file from 1 station to one another ! And do not getting slowdown when one device make update ...
Happy days glad you got sorted. I do want you to reply to this post, even if its simply to amuse me! However, I sincerely hope you dont, sadly with every line you type, the volume of misunderstanding of the technology increases and its becoming... amusing to read... Very much the Dunning-Kruger effect demonstrated.
