Hi,

I have a set of C420S2 cameras, its H200 HUB and a T100 motion sensor. Everything up to date in terms of firmware and the Android app, also the latest version 3.1.315.

Since I have the cameras at a height of 3 floors, the detection of motion and people does not work well at this height. For this I have purchased an additional Tapo T100 motion sensor (which does report correctly when there is movement, compared to cameras).

The Tapo app only allows me to trigger the "privacy" action on cameras. I would like to ask for a feature to trigger a smart recording action of the C420 cameras (or any other avalaible models) when the T100 sensor detects movement.

the motion sensor in c420s2 cameras is very disappointing, and the product information is incredibly lacking in DK. Of course, the C420S2 must be able to work together with the T100 regardless of the fact that it is an attempt to correct a missing crucial function in the C420S2.

This is a good example functionality that is essential, but will not get many votes. In a smart home, integration with functionality is everything! The problem is most customers don't buy a product lacking essential functionality, upvote and wait for new functionality to arrive if they're lucky. They do as I did, return the product they cannot use and find something that works for their use case. So far I consider this product integratable, but not there yet when it comes to functionality exposed to the integration.

Esphome is a great example what smart home owners do when they cannot find the exposed product functionality they need in the market.

MyQ is a great example of what's happening when you remove functionality from integrations. They where the biggest contender in the US market for smart garage door openers, they removed integrations, and now everyone is throwing their product out the door.

 

My conclusion is don't wait for upvote on simple functionality extensions if you want to be a contender in the smart home market.

Another vote for triggering C420 camera recording via T100 sensor.

All the tapo camera should have this feature to trigger recording when any of the tapo sensor than can be use.
