Hi!
I use ER7206 v1.0 in Omada setup. Today I've connected Secondary WAN which is meant to be used only when primary WAN is down.

I've been struggling with following:

  1. How can I configure Load Balancer and Link Backup to use Primary WAN only and use Secondary WAN only in case of Primary's failure? Specifically:
    1. what should be the Online Detection Interval
    2. what should be the Load Balancing Weight
  2. How can I re-configure Online Detection check? My Primary WAN is an ISP router which in case of Internet outage it serves info page. I see the Online Detection behaves wild - considers Primary WAN as online even though it's down. I've seen the article https://www.tp-link.com/pl/support/faq/701/ and https://www.tp-link.com/pl/support/faq/2133/ but I can't find such settings in Omada.

I've played with settings, but the Internet connection on end user is interrupted frequently. Due to Primary WAN - which in fact is down, but Omada thinks it's up.

Thank you!

1. Controller mode supports interval setting. That can be either manual or automatic. It's on the same page as WAN settings.

Weight does not matter if you are using the backup. Reason is that the backup WAN is not active.

Been explained in this thread. It's on the first page and pinned.

2. Can you show me some tests done by yourself? And when you witnessed this "wild behavior", what was your config?

The path for the controller has been repeated in 1.

And lastly, you said that the end user is interrupted frequently, have you verified this is a problem caused by a failure of load balancing? Not your signal or other issues?

Any concrete test results?

@Clive_A Thank you for bunch of information.

I'll test it some day (when my Primary WAN is really down). The Echo Server is an answer to most of my questions.

As I recall, the "wild" behavior was that on client PC, doing simple ping to 1.1.1.1 I've seen normal responses (traffic went through Backup WAN) and sometimes I've seen response from Primary WAN. But, let me verify if changing Echo Server will help.

Thanks
