I'm so sick of this software, DCHP issues

I have this adapter which I suspect is causing a number of DCHP issues on my PC.
I have tried to update the software to v5 - all I get is a constant "invalid file", and the latest v4, which gets to 100% and then the page just refreshes and once I log back in, into tplinkplc.net - it hasn't even updated the firmware - there is no option to turn off DCHP.
What else can I do? This is the most frustrating software to use, ever.

Hi, thanks for posting question here.
V4 and V5 are different hardware versions, which cannot be upgraded like firmware.
If you want to upgrade firmware, please go to official website to check the latest firmware.
How to update the firmware using tpPLC Utility
And if you connect PC to your main router wirelessly or via Ethernet cable, is there any issue you worried? The IP address obtained by your PC is from your main router, not the powerline devices.

@Marvin_S The adapter I have is acting as a DHCP server, and keeps messing things up, hence why I'm trying to update to the latest firmware.
I have tried downloaded those latest firmware files, which are in .bin format, but this adapter doesn't request a bin file, it's asking for a NVM and PIB file.

@Marvin_S No update on the above? How am I supposed to update the firmware, when the tpPLC app asks for NVM and PIB, and your website only gives me a .bin file? When I use the web based utility, it says the file when using .bin.

*.bin files can only be installed via the web management interface and *.nvm / *.pib files can only be installed via the tpPLC Utility. That's how it works on all of TP-Link's HomePlug AV Powerline adapters.
If the update via the web management interface didn't work, then test if it makes any difference if you reset the TL-WPA4220 to factory default settings first (press and hold the small "Reset" button for a few seconds), before you attempt the firmware update.
Also make sure the firmware update file you've downloaded matches the hardware version (V4) and region information (e.g. US, EU, UK) printed on the TL-WPA4220's label.
If it still fails to install the *.bin file of the lastest firmware version, then try with another previous firmware version that is newer than the one currently installed.
P.S. When there are issues with updating firmware it's also recommended to perform the update using a computer that is connected to the device via an Ethernet cable instead of performing the firmware update over a Wi-Fi connection.
