Make the KE100 available in the Tapo app
Thursday
Model: KE100 KIT
Hardware Version: V1
Firmware Version:

Please bring (back) full support of the KE100 Smart Thermostat in the Tapo app, so that users don't have to handle two apps to show all their devices.

There is no thermostat in the Tapo lineup, so the only option for customers is to buy the KE100 from the Kasa lineup. Right now, customers have to use two apps, because all the Wifi Tapo products only show up in the Tapo app, and the KE100 thermostats only show up in the Kasa app. The sensors connected to the KH100 hub show up in both apps, which is definitely a start - but makes it even more frustrating, that the thermostats are not supported.

The KE100 support in the Tapo app seems to be fully developed, as it was available in the Tapo app 3.2.515/3.2.806/3.2.808. The backend also still seems to be running, as I am still able to add and control a KE100 to the Tapo app by running the old version (possible on Android). Back then, there was even a specific screen in those versions announcing the support of the KE100. In the current version, the added thermostats just do not show up.

If TP-Link wanted to force people to buy the Kasa KH100 hubs, even if they already have a Tapo hub - at least that would be a logical business decision, but you could really just limit the hub that the KE100 can be added to, there is no need to fully remove it from the app. The only logical business reason I would see for not adding the KE100 to the Tapo app would be, if TP-Link wanted to release another, Tapo branded, thermostat (the Tapo E100 was announced quite a while ago, but never materialised), and make all customers buy that to have everything in one app. But that would alienate so many customers, I do not believe that is even worth considering.

So I am left puzzled by TP-Link business decision to not release the KE100 support in the Tapo app. There is quite a lot of customer demand for this, as exemplified by the following posts:

Please, dear TP-Link, have a heart, release this feature, and make everyone's winter a little warmer.
