Tapo bulbs forget connection when power to them is off for a few hours
When I switch off the light switch at the wall and then come back hours later the bulbs flashes and appears offline in the tapo app.
I can reconnect it through the app and once recognised the bulb will ask me if it wants to use remembered settings.
Is it expected behaviour for the bulb not to reconnect to the network once power is restored?

This isn't a normal phenomenon. The smart device should be able to reconnect to the network after power is restored. In some cases, the smart device may reconnect to the wifi but not to the internet or cloud server, resulting in a remote control failure issue. The smart device may show offline if your phone is not connected to the same local wifi network as the smart devices.
Do you need to reset the smart bulb before reconnecting it in the app? Does this happen every time you turn off the light bulb from the wall switch?

Hi again! I have some good news to share. Our product team is planning to update the reset method for the Tapo smart bulb. This new change should help to improve the situation where the bulb gets reset due to an unstable power supply. We are also offering community users an early opportunity to try it out. If you're interested, please refer to the details below.
